On March 10, 1926, Brecksville Library became part of the Cuyahoga County Library system. The library was housed in several locations before the Highland Drive facility was built.
Skyrocketing circulation, community growth, and increased use of the library resulted in an effort for a larger library. The Citizens for a New Library was formed by Ellen W. Mulkerin and supported by the Friends of the Brecksville Library. Their efforts resulted in the present 15,000 square foot building at 9089 Brecksville Road, which opened in 1990. Tours of the library are encouraged.
