The Blauvelt Free Library is housed in a beautiful old sandstone Hudson River Valley Colonial Building; the former home of Judge Cornelius Blauvelt. The oldest date ascribed to the first building is 1752. The main or sandstone structure was added in 1852.
A reference area and work room was added in 1988. A major expansion was completed in 1998. The additions to the library were designed so as to not detract from the beauty of the original colonial structure. [Square footage 7860].
The Blauvelt Free Library was chartered in 1909; and its Absolute Charter granted May 25, 1973
