History:
In May 1970, Beverly Branch first opened in a storefront at 2114 W. 95th Street. Prior to that time, a bookmobile stopped at 95th and Charles Street. In 1979, a facility at 2121 W. 95th Street was purchased and renovated; Beverly Branch opened there in May 1981.
On June 8, 2009, Beverly Branch opened in a new library building at 1962 W. 95th Street. Architectural features include cathedral ceilings and clerestory windows. Attractive landscaping includes a reading garden. The branch features environmentally sustainable construction under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Beverly Branch houses a bronze sculpture by Virginio Ferrari entitled Two Lovers; additional art has been commissioned for the new branch. Artwork was funded through the Percent for Art Ordinance administered by the City of Chicago Public Art Program.
