In 1903, a small lending library was established in Bayville by Albert DeLoach, age 14. A group of interested citizens joined with him in the development of a chartered library, In 1908, the library moved to a house on Library Lane, and the Bayville Free Library, a free association library, was chartered in 1912. In 1956, it was relocated to its present quarters at the center of the Village Hall complex on School Street. The library is chartered to serve the Incorporated Village of Bayville which has a population of 7193 (1990 census).
