The Ewell Free Library, built in 1913 in the Beaux Arts Classical style, was given to the town of Alden by Joseph and Carrie Ewell in memory of their daughter, Florence Josephine Ewell. Its fluted columns, grey stone walls, and stained glass window enhance the beauty of this architecturally significant building.

The library has a collection of early Native American arrowheads as well as several paintings by Alden artists.
