All ages (with a parent/guardian). Join African Dance Instructor, Jolyn Washington Walker of African Expressions, to celebrate Juneteenth! This interactive event will explore the history of Juneteenth, the "Grandmother of Juneteenth," the symbolism of the Juneteenth flag, and how Juneteenth is celebrated in Texas and the South. Participants will be guided through gentle movements, a drum circle, and a cultural dance. This event will end with creating a community circle and a "Call to Action" that encourages further engagement beyond Juneteenth.
Jolyn Walker is the Owner/CEO of African Expressions by Jolyn. She is an African Dance instruction, Kwanzaa celebration specialist, and Black History Month and Juneteenth facilitator. She studied dance in Ghana, West Africa and loves sharing to all who join her presentations.
